Chasing Sunset - Pensacola Beach
Tucked away on the Emerald Coast’s beautiful white sandy beaches is a town with a history as rich as the blue waters that surround its shore. Pensacola, Florida is both beautiful and awe-inspiring that attracts thousands of visitors from across the United States and around the world every year.
I was fortunate enough to grow up in Pensacola and experience all of what Northwest Florida has to offer. One of my favorite places to photograph in town is Fort Pickens, a beautiful and historic landmark located on the western shoreline of Santa Rosa Island. Fort Pickens was an important military fort built in the early 1800’s and is surrounded by an amazing state beach that is available for camping and exploring.
For this shoot, I contacted Anna, whom I’ve known for quite a few years now and have worked with previously here in Pensacola. Thankfully she was available to shoot with me again! Also, we were lucky to have Karla Varley (Volume 1 Salon) to style Anna’s hair and Desheri (Deshi Beauty) for makeup. Anna and I decided to meet at Fort Pickens at sunset to capture the dreamy glow as the sun tucked behind the coastline. I was so excited to shoot her in the outfit I had ordered online just for the occasion. I have made it more of a point nowadays to style my own shoots and have been so happy with the results. The black, flowy skirt added a moody and dramatic contrast to the photos against the vibrant, watercolored landscape. Providing mood boards for makeup and hair has been a crucial part of the creative process for me as well (shoutout to Pinterest and Milanote). Karla and Desheri absolutely nailed this look! Anna is such a natural flowing in and out of poses without missing a beat or looking too forced. She makes taking photos so fun and easy that before we knew it we were running out of daylight! Huge thank you to all three of these lovely ladies for making this shoot possible!
