David Webb Jewelry Shoot | Beverly Hills
She spends the morning lounging and sunbathing by the pool. She dashes out to meet a friend for lunch before a romantic dinner that evening. Refreshed after a full night’s sleep she feels invigorated, ready for tea in the garden and a bite to eat before her favorite pastime, spoiling herself with lavish pieces from David Webb.
Sounds pretty amazing right? If you haven’t already guessed it, this week’s blog post is a jewelry shoot for American Jewelry designer David Webb. The concept was to delight and amaze the guests staying at the Beverly Hills Wilshire hotel (but not just any guests). Around the same time every year, the Wilshire is home to some very special clientele who come from across the globe to spend some time, so it was my job to make sure David Webb’s collection would attract their attention.
With the concept laid out, I traveled down to Beverly Hills about a week prior to the shoot to do location scouting and to advise the David Webb Wilshire team which rooms, angles and lighting would work best for their summer campaign. After taking some behind the scenes snaps, I was buzzing with ideas and ready for the shoot the next weekend.
The color palette for this campaign was bright and bold. David Webb’s designs are oversized and extravagant, making the pieces an absolute dream to photograph. Along with this, it was important the setting and styling matched the jewelry. For each look, I wanted to make sure that the pieces were on display and that I was emphasizing their amazing quality and craftsmanship.
When it was finally shoot day, I met up with the team at the Wilshire ready to get snapping. The full day shoot was planned to perfection, with each location and outfit allocated a specific time. After having spent a day at the hotel a week before, I had a good feel for the flow of the building so was able to tell a glamorous story of life as a Wilshire guest. It was a project with lots of hands on deck, which made it so fulfilling to see the shoot come to life!
What I loved most about this shoot was the way we styled the model. Just as David Webb, the jewelry icon once said jewelry is “meant to be worn, not kept in the vault,” Whether you’re descending a marble staircase or picking at a plate of fruit by the pool, David Webb’s pieces are meant to be worn.
Thank you so much to the David Webb Team and Levi for welcoming me into this beautiful project!
